Disability and RehabilitationAs audiologists, when caring for our patients, it is important to not only treat the effects of hearing impairment but also explore the social and health impacts of residual hearing disability.  It is only through this holistic care that we are able to give the most appropriate and individualised care for our patients.

In this recent paper, researchers found that a person’s ability to managed their hearing and hearing impairment was closely associated with the quality of their life. They also found that higher anxiety and reduced self-confidence caused by hearing loss were closely associated with a decrease ability in managing hearing and listening impairments.
