During a hearing test, our qualified audiologists employ a variety of techniques to assess your auditory system’s functionality. Here’s what to expect during the process and how it benefits you:

Detailed Discussion

What Happens: We begin with a thorough discussion of your medical history and any hearing-related concerns.

Physical Ear Canal Examination

What Happens: We examine your ear canal and remove any ear wax if necessary.
Benefits: Clearing the ear canal ensures accurate testing results and improves your overall ear health. It also helps prevent interference with hearing aids or other treatments.

Pure-tone Audiometry

What Happens: In a soundproof enclosure you’ll listen to a series of tones at various frequencies and volumes through headphones.
Benefits: This test measures your ability to hear different pitches and volumes, helping us identify the specific frequencies where hearing loss may be occurring.

Speech Audiometry

What Happens: You will listen to and repeat back words or sentences at varying volumes.
Benefits: This evaluates how well you understand speech in different listening environments, providing insight into how hearing loss affects your everyday communication.

Additional Tests

Depending on your specific needs and symptoms, additional tests such as tympanometry, auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing or x-ray scans (CT Scan/MRI) may be conducted or recommended to gather more information about the health and function of your auditory system.
